Default Fuel Injection Issue

I have a 1990 Ranger with the 2.9 V-6. It's got 143,000 miles on it and is still going strong.

Recently, I've noticed a gas smell when the motor is first started or is shut off. It starts quickly when cold, but when it's warm, it needs to be cranked for a bit. Also, I noticed some fuel leaking out of the vacuum port (on the runner) that connects to the HVAC control when the motor is shut off.

The motor runs fine when I'm driving and it gets about 18 mpg.

Any thoughts?

Thank You,

Tony

Default Re: Fuel Injection Issue

Run it, and then check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line for raw gas. If you have fuel there, you will need to replace the regulator - the diaphragm is leaking.
