Default 2.9 Temp Gauge HELP

Just recently my gauge just stop working. Before it hovered around half hot half cold which was fine but now it just totally stoped. It will move a little but it wont go above the line.

Its a 2.9 V6 2wd 1988

Does the gauge peg when it's grounded? (ground with key off, turn the key on briefly to see if it reads full hot) The sending unit could have been installed in such a way that it now isn't grounded well, or it could be going bad. The sending unit for the gauge is on the driver's side lower intake, single booted wire running to it.

Course it is also possible the thermostat is stuck open and the gauge is reading correct. How is your heat? The sender is cheap and easy. If replacing it doesn't change the reading, the reading is probably correct and you have a cooling system problem.
