Exclamation I need some help please

My 1990 Ford Ranger has a 2.9 liter motor now this is the problem it starts great when it is cold and runs good till the motor warms up then the problem starts it acts like it is getting why to much gas and is trying to flood itself out. The check engine light is on and this truck is getting real bad fuel mileage and if you keep driving it starts to lose a lot of power. Now this truck has been sitting up for about 5 years I have replaced the plugs and plug wires and the fuel filter and I have checked the cat converter. I need help to know what else to check.

could it be the coolant temp sensor? if it stil thinks the motor is cold it will put more fuel it in. like driving with the choke on.....
