If you know for sure that the lower intake is the source of the poor idle, yes, you are going to want to change that ASAP. But make sure it is, because it's a job that you won't be happy if you do it and the problem is still there. Not even sure where to begin on a rough idle given the info that we know, a good starting point I would recommend is tune up - cap, rotor, plugs, and wires, then go from there.

You can bypass the inertia switch, but remember that the fuel pump isn't going to turn off in an accident. Really your call. It's a switch, so bypass is strait forward. 12v so make sure there's no way that power can contact ground.

You should replace the switch. Not bypass or get rid of it. However, I also don't think the rough idle is what is causing the switch to trip. Its more likely the switch is causing fuel pressure fluctuations resulting in a rough idle. None the less, fix the switch first and go from there.

thanks for the advice i did by pass the switch yesterday so i am going to buy new switch today for the safety aspects ,as far as the rough idle it is just now and then i have replaced cap, rotor ,plugs, wires, pcv valve and the valve thing on drivers side valve cover had to by from ford dealer . when i first got truck i did all that i was trying to run it through inspection but idle was to high and it flunked it was idling around 1200 i sprayed carb cleaner to check for intake leak no change
checked all vacumn hoses replace some that were bad. so then i took throttle cable cover off and turn the idle down to 800 rpm passed through inspection that was may .. so story continues . i was giving the truck to my nephew i was down to about 1/8 tank gas stopped put gas in about 1/2 tank drove about 1 mile conked out ittook about 1/2 hour to get started and then every time it conked out even reseting switch would not let it start .. so i replace fuel relay now the if it conks out i would reset switch.. any ideas would be great
