Oil Idiot Light

So I just got my 2.9 in and fired her up and the idiot light is staying on. Oil is getting up top and quieted down after a few minutes after initial start. The motor sat for almost 2 years prior to install. Any ideas as to why the light won't go off or even why it's on to begin with?

thats the low oil pressure light...it could be on for 1 of 2 reasons...the engine isnt making enough oil pressure or the sending unit took a shit on you

Do you have a tach? If you have a tach, it could be low oil pressure switch. If you don't and have an oil pressure gauge, that is the low oil level light.

Just added 5 quarts of oil to it with oil change. Has tach so low oil pressure or bad sending unit which is possible. Its getting oil up top and soes not run like it has issues. I'll keep working at it.
