Default Poor gas mileage

So my ranger is only getting about 12mpg average. According to http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...F7laGZ7Shi3iow it should get 16-22mpg. I have replaced just about everything I can think of down to the o-rings that run inside the lines going to the fpr. Changing the rings made a heck of a difference for throttle response but.....it took 5 gallons of gas to go 60 miles. I have not checked the fuel pressure yet....I am waiting on a friend with a gauge.

Parts replaced:

tps
maf
plugs/wires
cap/rotor
coil

I should say though that during that drive of 60 miles, I was between 70-75mph with the a/c on. I wouldn't think it would kill the mpg that much though.

* if this should be in the engine tech section....my apologies...please move as necessary.

Truck details in sig.

Are they the stock tires? Bigger tires I believe can put a damper on your mpg.

He has an 87 with a 2.9 and a 2WD....he should get better then 12.

How many miles are on the truck? You said you replaced a bunch of things, but what exactly did you replace/fix? That could help narrow down some specifics

Not a ton done to it, but it's nowhere near finished

Way too much done to list and it's also not even close to done

The tires are stock (205/75-14). The cap/rotor, plugs/wires/ignition, fuel sending unit, o-rings on the lines that go into the fuel pressure regulator. A buddy of mine is gonna come by in the next few days to do a fuel pressure test.
