Default Engine Problem?

I got this 1990 Ford ranger from a neighbor. He went through the whole truck, But something happen'd and he needed it gone, So i took it off his hands. The truck will fire up but it runs rough. It will idle for a bit at 500-1000 rpms. the Engine shakes really bad, it seems like its having a missfire or possible timing issue. I didn't hear any backfiring while we kept it alive.

Any input or help will be much appreciated.

Default Re: Engine Problem?

Start with the basic stuff. Check firing order. Couldn't hurt to look over the plugs at least. Then move on to narrowing down which cylinder is misfiring. Will need to pull wires off one-by-one, start the truck, and find which one doesn't make it worse. Or computer should be able to do a cylinder balanace test IIRC. Pulling codes couldn't hurt either. Could be anything though, even a vacuum leak, good luck. Check the vacuum line under the TB that runs to the charcoal canister.
