Default 88 2.9 runs rich and loses power.

Did a tune up on my truck about a month ago. Ever since it will lose power going down the road, and you have to either push the pedal down more to get it to pick back up or let off the gas then back on it again. I have checked the the dist. and the TFI. They seem to be fine, but I did test them cold. I have replaced the ACT and the ECT. I tested the TPS and it checks out fine. This thing is driving me nuts. I have an o2 sensor to put in it but haven't got it in yet. I,m gonna pull the dist cap off and double check it. This thing is just getting to be annoying. Any help is greatly appreciated.

"Ever since" leads me to believe that you might want to check over the cap/rotor you installed (what was involved in your tune up?), check your firing order, and make sure your o2 sensor wiring is not melting up against your exhaust. Just generally look over where you were, if it ran worse after a tune-up, something either isn't quite right or something was distrupted. What brand of compnents did you use?

Borg warner cap and button, at first I put some accel plugs in it, then put in some bosch plugs, then went back to motocraft plugs. firing order is good. Timing is fine. I have to check the o2 wiring. I am going over all the wiring in the engine bay.

Hey Chris,
Take a look at my post 1986 missing and bucking--solved???
It might be worn throttle cable links, this causes the throttle plate to wiggle with the engine vacuum and the TPS sends bad signals to the PCM(computer). The 88 might be similar as far as cables and maybe the loose link.

Good luck.
