Default 84 Fuel pump location

Hey everyone,

not too long ago you guys here were very helpful with issues with my truck. Originally, I was planning on selling our truck and getting some cheap vehicle for my wife, since she is pregnant and will need something that is better for the baby. However, we've decided (since my new job is now closer to home), that I'm going to keep the truck and she is going to have my car.

So I'm going to use our tax returns to fully fix up this beast (originally purchased for $120).

Does anyone know where the fuel pump is located on it? It is a 2.8L V6 171. I'm hoping this will fix two issues with one pump.

Thanks

Should be on top of the gas tank.
you'll have to drop the whole tank to change it.

Thanks I will take a look. Nothing I have read has mentioned that location for the V6 2.8L 2BBL

Not a 2.8L guy, but I bet that has a mechanical pump. I'd be looking on the driver's side of the engine, or for signs of fuel lines and follow them.
My '87 2.0L still had a mechanical pump fwiw

The 2.8 does not have an electric boost pump. It is only an eccentric fuel pump mounted to the front of the carb towards the bottom from what I recall of my old 2.8.

Yes indeed it is mechanical and it is on the driver side of the block. It was so covered in dirt (sitting for 3 years) and hidden that I did not see it. Looks like it is going to be bear to get to but hopefully when I get it replaced she will run for more than 10 seconds!!!

Thanks for the help.
