Default 87 Ranger 2.9V6

My son's truck. He started complaining that the power was fading and it seemed to be loading up at a steady throttle setting and that he had to give it some gas to clean it out.

Well yesterday he called, said he was doing 25MPH and it was floored. No power and it was bogging down. Finally it died and now wont start.

When cranking the engine is firing as it's trying to start but wont stay running.

Anyone maybe might know what is causing this?

Thanks in advance.
