LOL. We can agree to disagree, but I still stick to my statement about nothing being wrong with copper core plugs. We can talk about this all day, but I doubt anything will get accomplished.

I added a KN air filter system to my 3.0L 4x4 a couple of years ago and for the buck you will get some bang!

OK, hopefully someone can make sense from these pictures:

This is what my CAI is supposed to look like, except that the inner fender wells are out for an engine upgrade, 92 4.0 in place of the 2.9, (it has 241000+ miles and is getting tired, but at last driving it would still chirp the tires in second gear). When the 4.0 is in. this set up will be moved to the drivers side with a short 4" duct going into the Spee-d Basin.

The 4" drier duct went under the battery box to the piece in the next pic.

This is a down spout reducer for a gutter system.

This is what it looks like on the outside, the plate that holds the down spout reducer to the radiator support is an angle bracket from the building materials section in Lowes. It is all pop riveted together.
These are the major parts out of the vehicle, less the down spout adapter, and the angle bracket that held the Spee-d Basin to the inner fender well where the old battery box used to be. The filter actually sets all the way into the Spee-d Basin and has about half to three quarters of an inch around the filter. At speed the excess air was pushed into the engine compartment and in the winter when you were warming up it would allow warm air into the filter.
In the summer when it was 90* out it didn't matter until you got moving.
The filter is a K&N, RP-4740, I used the stock air inlet hose and wrapped it and the Spee-d Basin with high temp reflective tape to cut a little of the engine compartment heat. On the filter end is a PVC reducer to adapt the filter to the K&N. I also ran a tab back from the battery hold to the PVC reducer with a large hose clamp to hold the filter in the center of the Spee-d Basin.
I built this setup about 96 and ran it till I parked the B 2 in 02. It worked good for me, but is not water proof, no fording of the river or torrential downpours.
Hope this helps someone, as of a couple months ago, the parts cost about $35 at Lowes, that is minus the K&N.
Sorry about the picture quality, camera phone, wife has the Cannon.

Ray

Hmm, Camo save your time and money, just do the swap. . .

Hey Clem You really need to look into fiberglass. It's not that hard to do once you get the hang of it and it's pretty cheap too.

Hey CopperPete your response is posted above(on page 2).

What am I supposed to be fiber glassing?
Have done a little fiberglass work in the past, and it isn't that hard to do. Depends on how good you want it to look when you get done. Glassed up a couple holes in a boat some years back, and laid up fender flares for 79 Mustang.

Ram air parts, it's a little different cut molding but it's not too hard. And the finish is not something you really have to worry about I finish all mine out in Bed liner.
