Exclamation Please help where is EGR sensor on 1988 ranger

The ranger is having problems running my dad replaced the map sensor idle control sensor ect we thought it may be the egr. We looked in the manual but dosnt say where the thing is located. the engine is a 2.9l and if it matters its 4x4. Thank you for your time.

it's the funny circle shaped deal with a hose from it to your throttle body and has other vacum hoses on it. It also has a tube frome the exhaust manifold prolly on your driver side about level with where the exhaust is.

The reason you cannot find the EGR on your 1988 Ranger,
is because it was not equipped with EGR from the factory.

Please describe symptoms. Good starting point is pulling codes. Tune up is recommended if not done so.

That would explain it thank you Haha. Can you by chance tell me how to pull codes? im not used to working on these i have acar that the ecu tells me the codes is the ranger the same way? thanks again guys

Easy to do on an '88. Check out this link:

Troublcodes.net Trouble Codes OBD & OBD2 Trouble Codes and Technical info & Tool Store. By BAT Auto Technical

All you need to do is put the jumper (small piece of wire, paper clip, etc) from the small separate square connector, into the diagnostic connector shown in the pictures (there's 4 diagrams, you only need to follow one - bottom pictures). This will cause all of the diagnostic codes to be "blinked" out of the check engine light from inside of the truck. 11 is no problem found, but the site goes into more details as far as running the tests themselves.
