Can you explain a bit more crudely? I've rebuilt one of these engines from the block up and have recently ripped one apart, but I am not completely sure which part you are referencing to. You are a brave soul for doing that with out pulling the motor.

Crankcase baffle is located near the pickup tube may be hard to find if engine is not fully removed

both books ive read and a friend of mine who owns an auto shop said you dont have to remove the engine....just a pain...he said it was about a 4 hour job...if i cant do it i guess i will just take it to him...just that im a motorcycle mechanic so im used to doing all my own mechanic work...im a do it myself kinda guy...i just know putting it all back in is going to be a ginormous pain in my ass...good thing the truck is lifted enough to just sit under there without jacks...
