just like shavings? if its shavings then something maybe be coming into contact with something else in the engine, youd have to take it apart and see what the problem is. it could be clearance issues with the pistons they might not be inline properly or something like that. or it could be that the funnel used to pour the oil in had metal shavings in it?

that would be the best bet. if you notice after this next oil change that there are no metal pieces than your set and it was just bad oil change the last time, but if you get more metal shavings after this oil change, than youll have to go deeper into your engine

Metal shavings, are very different than normal metal flake(smaller than glitter). If you have shaving which would resmeble cut fingernails you are in a bad place. More than likely main bearings. You should get on that ASAP to avoid failure and further degredation.

I'd say do an oil change, and step up to a slightly heavier grade oil, and as stated, see if they continue to show up. Some flakes in the oil is nothing to worry about, but they should be silver, not brown like rust. If they are brown, most likely they were introduced from the outside.

Good, I would recommend flushing the engine oil, good shop can do, or you can do w/additive from autohaus. Also I would recommend getting a magnetic drain plug. I got one for my 02 from summit I believe.
P.S. IMHO 10w30, w/Lucas additive.
