Default serious loss of power when engine is warm

i have a 1986 2.9 v6. what would cause my engine to sound like a lawn mower randomly.. well guess its not random. it does it after i drive about 10+ miles. it does it in any gear after the 10 mile drive. It just sounds like a lawn mower engine, and sounds almost like its backfiring rapidly, then it has absolutly NO power. i mean its ridiculous, fully loaded semi's pass me going up hills!! its really starting to piss me off, im thinking about just junking the dang thing. but if i did that id have to way to get to work.. and i dont have money for a new car either. so any help would be great.

Could be TFI, ECT, O2 sensor, etc.. Good starting point is to pull trouble codes from the computer (particularly CM codes). '86 does not have a functioning check engine light.

Braydon. Take a look at my post 1986 missing and bucking--solved???
It might be worn throttle cable links, this causes the throttle plate to wiggle with the engine vacuum and the TPS sends bad signals to the PCM(computer).
It's worth a look and it's free!
