Question 88 Ranger 2.9 4X4 Feul pump

My truck has 2 fuel pump 1 in the fuel tank and 1 on the left side of frame is this normal.
The one in the tank stop working, will replace it soon.

Yes. It is a very common setup among the 86-88 trucks. The intank pump is a low pressure, and the frame rail is high. The canister between the 2 pumps is a resivour for the high pressure pump. The only fuel filter you should have is the front one near the exhaust manifold on the drivers side, directly after the high pressure pump. Also double check your grounds and that you're getting power to the pump itself.
