I am not sure where this info comes from as a performance upgrade on a stock engine. You'll actually hurt performance by going to a too large of fuel injector.
The stock injectors are more than sufficient for the 2.9L, but pushed enough to get good atomization - they're the right size for the engine in stock form. If you were to significantly increase cylinder displacement, or run forced induction where you have more air going in, this is when larger injectors come into play as the stock injectors will not keep up with demand with the increase in air. Computer is also "hard wired" expecting this flow rate, you'll end up with a engine that runs pig rich. BTDT
