Should the fan be turning when the engine has just had a cold start?

Thought the fan was to kick in when a certain temperature was achieved and then cut out when the temp dropped.

My fan drives full blast with a cold start. Is this ok?

Rangers have a belt driven fan, you are thinking of an electric fan which only come on when it needs to.

the fan turns on and off at cretin speeds of the engine. rangers have a fan clutch its a lot like a go cart clutch but in opposite. the lower rpm's like idle and resting at a stop like it'll turn on.

Not exactly. That big round thing in the middle is a thermal clutch. The hotter it gets, more the clutch releases, the faster the fan turns. It will never ever stop completely. It can't. But as it gets hotter, the fan will speed up and you will noticeably hear it roar.

Lol, yeah that's what I meant. It is normal for it to be quite loud upon a cold start. Typically, a RWD vehicle will have a clutch fan whereas a FWD vehicle will have a electric fan. Of course, there are exceptions!
