Re: Gas pump constantly shuts off during fueling
I tracked my 2001 Rangers fueling problem to the 3 way valve near the vapor canister (allows fumes to go to engine to reburn one way, goes to vapor canister above spare tire the other way). It is supposed to stay open to the canister w/o power, allowing vapors from tank to escape. This also allows the air in tank to leave as you fill tank with fuel. If it is stuck on the reburn side, no air can leave tank, causing it to go up fuel neck, causing a jam up which backs fuel up & trips valve in fuel pump head.
A clogged canister will do the same thing, I just replaced both while I was under there.
Good Luck!
