Default 84 2.8 V6 fuel filter

Okay,

So my wife got an 84 Ranger V6, and I am trying to replace the fuel filter, since we think that is the cause of the engine dying (next guess is adjusting the idle, but the filter probably needs to be replaced regardless).

The only problem is that I cannot find the bloody fuel filter on the car.

I've gone online and read that the filter is suppose to be inside the rail under the driver seat, but when I look there, there is no filter. I do see that the fuel line is wrapped in tape, and would not be surprised if the car didn't have a fuel filter and just had the line taped together where the fuel filter was suppose to be. But before untaping anything, I was hoping to double check if maybe it is somewhere else?

Any ideas?

on the line going into the carb....not on the frame

look at this pic of my truck....
notice the little brass cylinder sticking out of the carb thats attached to the fuel line?
thats the filter.

Thank you so much. For some reason, my truck has a big metal casing that holds the air filter and so the fuel filter is not as visible as yours is, but I found it.

i've done a few things to my motor....lol

i converted it to the older Duraspark ignition and ripped out all the computer and egr crap.

got a carb off of a 302, and a manual choke

and the huge air filter thing was garbage....so i got a nice shiny chrome one.

it runs sooooo much better now

We hope to eventually customize the "Danger Ranger" (I'm sure my wife isn't the first to come up with that), but right now, getting it to run smoothly, one issue at a time.

Currently my wife wanted a Tacoma to be her truck (since they are so cute and pretty), but I talked her into getting a Ford for her first car and I'm hoping I can convert her, but that will only happen if the car works.
