my dad has an '88 with the mazda 5spd and is looking for a better clutch. He has put 85k miles and two clutches in it since we have had it and is looking for a better clutch that may last a little longer and won't slip quite as much. Any help here guys?
The original clutch in my truck was good for 183K when the head gasket let loose and took out the engine. It still had some life left but since the engine was out, I changed it out. I have a clutch in it from Advance Auto Parts but I have no idea what the brand is. It has performed just fine and there is no slip problems.
Is your dad sure he isn't having issues with is slave cylinder not engaging all the way? It might be a slave cylinder or master cylinder issue instead of a clutch issue.

I also think that the clutch is weak.
I replace mine and had the flywheel ground. A few weeks later I borrowed a trailer from a friend and reversed it up a slope and it overheated the flywheel again.
I think it's essential to have the flywheel ground - or get a new one - when replacing the clutch plate.
yeah, the clutch has been replaced, with the flywheel ground and the slave a little while ago...think he's just going to get another clutch because he can buy at least two for any kind of upgraded name brand clutch
