Default Possible Transmission sensor issues

So I have a 1988 4x4 with the 2.9 liter engine in it with a 5 speed manual transmission. I was driving it one day and it started having some electrical problems and stalling out it was acting like the key lock cylinder or the ignition switch was bad. I ended up replacing those and a bunch of other stuff and now it is having a weird thing where it will only start and run if the stick is held in a very specific spot. I don’t know what kind of sensors in the transmission could be bad that could stall the truck. Any ideas?
