Been while (09) since I’ve posted and looking for help.

I have a low mileage 1997 ranger with a 3 liter engine that’s completely rusted out and the opportunity to get a 1999 nice ranger with a good body, can I use the short block from my 97 in my 99? I think the heads, intake, injectors are different and could be switched. Would this work out?
