Default Electrical connector

So....I was having some issues with my truck driving and accelerating, I have found the culprit. I now would like to know what is the plug on the drivers side coming out of the firewall, it's an 8 pin connector. The issue was/is that there is at least 4 of the wires that looks like the insulation has been pulled back about 2-3" from the connector exposing the wire. So some of them were touching. What I would like to know is what that connector is powering and what's the best and cheapest way to fix this issue. Thank you in advance for any help.
