Ups and Downs to bypassing smog equipment?

OK so what are the ups and down to removing smog equipment? Ill be removing the bad cat soon, I have the evap system bypassed right now, so far i dont notice much difference I know it's probably just me but it does seem a little quicker

number one it's illegal

Number two you will fail any and all emission tests

Number three. Constant check engine light

1 it's a 1990 bronco 2 only 1 o2 sensors before the cat I've had it removed before no check engine light,

2 I don't have emissions testing in my area just safety inspection,
