1988 ford ranger that is not getting fuel
I have a 1988 ford ranger with a 2.9 liter and one day I had it started and then it died would not start again, so I check fuel pressure and it was none, so I replaced both fuel pumps and the fuel relay and it still did not start. i check the inter switch and it is good and the fuse at the fuse panel is, still no power to the fuel pumps, so i put power to the fuel pump and it pumps it to the fuel rail and the pressure is forty psi and still will not start please help

fuel filter? Have you checked pressure at multiple points on the fuel line?

It is the inertia switch
Easy to bi pass you can replace it easily after you verify it is the problem

If you hot wire the fuel pump, and get the required pressure at the rail, but the engine fails to start, you have other problems.

That makes absolutely no sense...
If you have 40 psi fuel pressure you have to have power to the fuel pump to make the pressure

Re: 1988 ford ranger that is not getting fuel
Agreed with sub, if you got pressure to the rail, it's not in the pump. Either going to be ignition not getting spark at the right time, or you loss power to the injectors. You can buy a noid set at harbor freight pretty cheap to see if you got power, you can also remove the fuel rail and view the spray.

Re: 1988 ford ranger that is not getting fuel
Does anyone know where the ground is that he is talking about? I have a 89 ranger doing the same thing. Have replaced fuel pump, filter, fuel pump relay, eec relay. Checked the inertia switch and it seems fine. After changing all that it ran fine for about a week, now it won't start up again.

You can add grind wires anywhere
The need to ensue you have the cab grounded to the frame, the engine grounded to the frame and the engine grounded to the cab, the battery grounded to the frame
