Angry 1988 ranger won't start

ive recently tried jumping off my atv with my truck. by mistake hooked the jumper cables up backwards on the atv. the truck kept running but after I turned it off it wouldn't start back. its spinning over, firing and getting fuel to the fuel rail. before all this happened when you drove it for a while down the road it would bogg out and lose all power.but I could pull off the road and let it cool down just a minute and it would run fine for a little while longer. im not sure it these would be connected anyway. could it be the fuel pressure regulator or maybe something else.

The bogging down that fixes itself when it cools off is a bad TFI (common problem)
Maybe the backwards cables killed the TFI
Replace the TFI & see what happens

ill try that and see what happens. do you think it could be the computer I took one off a 2wd and everything started working except it wouldn't fire but if I hook mine back up it fires but none of the fuel pumps come on. but the one I put on it wasn't exactly the same as mine

When the fuel pumps don't come on first thing to check is the roll over switch in the passenger side under the dash, easy to bypass just jump the two connectors in the plug
