Dan, I have been able to remove my filler neck without taking off the bed or the gas tank, it just takes some tight angles, but you can do it. I had to do it on my driveway, but if you have access to a lift, it would be a big help.
Have you found a new filler neck yet? When I was searching, it seemed to be a dealer only item.
