Could be. I just know mine quit dining when I unhooked the one harness. It's pretty easy to take it all apart to check. As far as the head unit goes, I don't think there'd be much of a relation there. But, there could be a wiring issue somewhere else that's causing it. Are there rats or mice running around where you park? I stored my boat at a buddies house one winter. There was a mouse with babies living in a nest made out of insulation from my ignition wires and grass inside the outboard cover. I stomped them.
