Default Towing

Not sure if this has been brought up before or if this is ever the right place to post this, but i'm wondering how much my ranger could tow if i put a Class III hitch on it. It's a 1997 Ranger XLT 2.3L I4. Auto, Regular Cab, short box. Bumper says 2000/200 but..i don't plan on pulling with the bumper and am just wondering if I could pull more then that and not blow something out of it.
Thanks,
Kenny
