There are no parts inside the rubber boot, its just there to hold grease for the slip joint. You need to remove the driveshaft from the rear end, take the clamp off the boot, and pull the joint apart. Then you can see how bad the splines are worn, and if you want to replace the driveshaft, or just the rear U joint, and drive it like it is.
