It's pretty much when you get on the gas the tires spin which make the axle want to twist, "axle wrap". The taller the block the more axle wrap. It wears the u joint on the driveshaft and countless other things. I've seen a truck with two 3inch blocks stacked on each other have the axle rip the driveshaft off and broke the u bolts.
