Have you checked the tyranny fluid level? You do this with the truck running in park.

Have you check for engine codes?

The reason I am balkng on the tranny is because you have no tranny codes.

Transmission?

Rear ABS engages, speedo drops to 0, no light

The truck has 188k on it. The trans fluid is fine, right where it should be on the stick. And there was one engine code, dealing with air flow, but that was taken care of.

The thread is quite helpful, however, the truck doesn't have any of those symptoms. The speedo is solid all the way through the gears (once it gets going) and under braking, there is nothing other than smooth stopping.

I've also noticed that there seems to be a bushing that doesn't look right at the end of the extension housing. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be setup around the tail shaft-to-drive shaft spline. Could that bushing be allowing a little trans fluid to get by the output shaft seal, and I don't think it's supposed to hold a lot of fluid back. I've been on top of checking the fluid and periodically topping it off, but I'm wondering if that might have something to do with the fluid loss...
