Limited slip diffs are barely better than an open differential. As they wear, they lose their limited slip action until they become an open diff. I would not bother with an axle swap. I would install an actual locking differential in your housing. With a limited slip, if one wheel is on ice and the other is getting traction, you can barely move, if at all.
