Logano to drive the 22 in 2013
Penske Racing announced yesterday that Joey Logano will pilot the 22 Shell-Pennzoil sponsored Ford in the beginning in the 2013 season.
Matt Kenseth will be taking over driving duties in the number 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing. Joe Gibbs wanted to keep Logano, but wasn't able to secure sponsorship for a 4th Sprint cup team.Logano was offered a full time ride with Gibbs in the Nationwide Series where he has been very successful this year, but he wanted a full time ride in the cup series. This should be a great fit for both Logano and also Penske Racing as well as a sigh of relieve (hopefully) for the Penske team.
Penske Racing has lost 2 drivers in the 22 car in the past year, the first being Kurt Busch, who was released due to issues with the media. A.J Allmendinger was then hired to take the drivers seat, but then was released from the team after failing a drug test earlier this year.
AT 22 years old Logano is really starting to mature as a driver, and I thinks will be a great addition to the team. He always has a smile on his face when he talks to the media, and he is starting to show that he can get the job done in the cup series.
