Default 2008 ranger oem sound system questions

I recently bought a used (almost new) 2008 ranger. It's just a regular cab 2.3l and it has that basic am/fm radio with 5 presets and nothing else. I was going to replace it with a JVC Arsenal.
I was also looking at replacing the speakers, but now I am extremely confused as to what my ranger has in it stock. There is, obviously, a speaker in both of the doors. These I assume are 6*8’s. There are also two speakers, mounted on the rear cabin wall behind each seat. They look completely stock but I didn’t think the basic system had four speakers. Also, they don’t work. I didn’t realize this when I bought it, so I hope it’s a problem with the speakers and not an amp or something. Does anyone else have these wall speakers?

Are the speakers behind the seat 6*8 too. Any ideas on why they are not working or any general advice on an audio upgrade in a very basic ranger. If all four are the same I guess I can replace them all with the same type of speaker? Should I pay more attention to a new amp?
